Team Fitness America Talks About Teens Versus Obesity
With parents working longer hours to support their families, many have turned to feeding their children fast food or quick, prepackaged meals. Coupled in with the fact that school lunch programs do not provide adequate nutrition and gym classes that occur a mere two hours a week, a rise in childhood and teen obesity has occurred. According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC), 32% of our teens are overweight and 19% of those are obese. Teens are now susceptible to heart disease, heart attacks, diabetes and even cancer among other diseases that they should not have to deal with at their age. In addition, many teens are ridiculed if they are overweight and cannot keep up with their smaller, faster peers. As a parent, no one wants to see
