[WATCH]: Childhood Obesity
Kentucky ranks in the top 10 when it comes to states with the most "obese" people. Obesity is determined by body mass index, which in simple terms is a ratio of height to weight. A BMI of more than 30 is considered obese. The Calorielab.com annual ranking places Kentucky as seventh on the "fattest" list for 2009 and 2010. And, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, obese children and adolescents are more likely to become obese adults. One study found that approximately 80 percent of children who were overweight when they were 10 to 15 years old were obese by age 25. For parents, these statistics are alarming. But what can we do?
