[WATCH]: Pediatric BMI Surveillance
This Altarum Institute Health Policy Forum Roundtable, cosponsored by Emory University Department of Pediatrics and Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, examined how pediatric BMI surveillance can lead to approaches to combating childhood obesity. The discussion audience included those in nutrition, epidemiology, behavioral health, health policy, health informatics, and pediatrics. One emerging model of state and local BMI surveillance uses existing registries. In registry-based BMI surveillance systems, height and weight data are collected in an ongoing and systematic manner by health care providers.
