A Miami-Dade park underwent a transformation Wednesday as part of a healthy change for the community. West Perrine Park, located at 10301 SW 170th Terrace, is part of the first Fitness Zone program in the county. The Trust for Public Land teamed up with Miami-Dade Parks and Recreation to launch the program for children ages 13 and up. Their goal is to increase exercise and address the nation's growing obesity epidemic. "We hope that people will get out, exercise in their parks, in their neighborhoods, and that they will be fitter and feel much better about themselves and their community," said Fitness Zone program director Brenda McClymonds.
