Pfizers Commitment to Improve the Health of Young People in Ireland was selected by Business in the Community Ireland in 2009 as an excellent example of a long-term commitment to bring about real and lasting change that will have a significantly positive impact. We have been greatly impressed that Pfizer has taken the lead to tackle the public health challenges of obesity and smoking in young people - the two issues that are the major causes of diabetes, cardio-vascular disease and cancer. Working in partnership with the Department of Education and other key stakeholders, Pfizer has developed a national programme and produced practical tools for children and teenagers to inform them of the benefits of making healthier lifestyle
