Vascular Disease, an Overview

Vascular disease includes conditions that affect the operation of the circulatory system. This mainly affects the blood vessels specially the medium and large muscular arteries. The formation of plaque which is composed of fat, cholesterol, calcium, fibrous tissue, and other substances in the blood causes hardening of the arteries.

Since the arteries are the one distributing blood throughout the body, their furring and the thinning of their walls make it difficult for blood to flow and reach the tissues. The end results are insufficient blood supply, tissue problems, and worst, death.
